In solidarity, The Miner Mutual Aid Team Dear Miner Community,
Through a generous partnership with the Capital Candy Jar, we will have a sweet fundraising event March 27 & 28. Customers who mention Miner Elementary those two days will receive a 5% discount, and 25% of those sales will benefit the Miner PTO! So it’s a great opportunity to stock up on Easter basket candy and other spring treats while supporting a local business and our school all at once! The PTO will arrange playdates from 2-4 p.m. each day during the event, at which you can meet PTO representatives in person (outdoors and with face masks) to talk about the school and opportunities to support it. It’s also a great time before our elections this spring to meet the current leadership team, sign up for committees, or ask questions about running for leadership positions. Also new this year is that online sales will receive the same discount! So please encourage your friends and family on those two days to visit the store’s website: https://capitalcandyjar.com/, and use the promo code MINER to get a deal for them and build support for our school. (Note that it cannot be used in conjunction with other discounts, including free shipping.) Thank you for your continued support of our Miner community! We hope to see you at the Capital Candy Jar, 201 15th Street NE, on March 27 & 28 (store hours those days are noon to 8 pm). Miner's Green Team and the garden program are pleased to present Miner's March garden newsletter.

In solidarity, The Miner Mutual Aid Team "This is the Way" is a short film created by our Miner students with our partnership with Arena Stage, a partnership made possible by Miner's Community School program. This film was created to display who they are as people, the things they care about, and the Miner Community! This short film was made by a group of our 3rd-5th grade students who met virtually every Wednesday from October to December. During this time, they participated in various activities and exercises to activate their creative lenses. All the words and ideas in this film were written by the students. We are very proud to share their project with all of you! We hope you enjoy! Note: clicking above redirects to Youtube.com for playback
Dear Miner community:
As school opens up for in-person learning, the Miner PTO is committed to doing what we can to support the teachers and staff coming back to the school. The reopening plan includes provision of personal protective equipment (PPE), but a survey of returning staff indicated that many did not feel the surgical masks provided would fully protect them from possible infection in the case of exposure to someone infected with COVID-19. The Miner PTO is thus raising funds to purchase N95 and KN95 masks for returning staff who have indicated they would feel safer with a higher level of protection. We have established a special fund in our regular donation system for purchasing these masks. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today to make sure everyone feels safe coming back to in-person learning. Sincerely, Your Miner Elementary PTO The Miner Mutual Aid Network will host our first Community Table of 2021 on Saturday, January 30 from 11am–2pm in the Miner parking lot.
