To register as a volunteer, please click here to be taken to our Signup Genius page, or reach out to MinerMutualAid@gmail.com. Support Miner Mutual Aid: We Are Stronger Together We are so excited to share that this January marks SIX MONTHS of supporting our community through mutual aid. We have been busy in the past half-year, and it's all thanks to the generous support of people like you. We are also growing! Our December Community Table provided food, PPE, flu shots, and other necessities to over 100 community members. We hope to continue offering support at this level, but we need your help. Our goal is to create connections, one person at a time, to form a network of solidarity. To achieve this goal, WE NEED YOU! We’re looking for a dedicated corps of volunteers who can commit to one or more of the following:
If you love Miner, if you've been looking for a way to give back to your community, if you want to get to know your neighbors, the Miner Mutual Aid Team is looking for you! Please reach out to us at MinerMutualAid@gmail.com to learn how you can support this work. In solidarity, The Miner Mutual Aid Team Dear Miner Family:
Last week a violent attack occurred in our neighborhood. Mere blocks from Miner Elementary an insurgency took place at the U.S. Capitol. The Miner Community, led by the Equity Team, PTO, and LSAT, has come together to write the below letter condemning this racist, hate-filled violence that took place in our front yard. Click here or any page below to download a PDF of the statement in English and Spanish. Miner's Green Team and the garden program are pleased to present Miner's January garden newsletter.
If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Lawson, Miner's FoodCorps representative, at sydney.lawson@foodcorps.org. Don't forget to follow the Miner Elementary Garden on social media - they can be found at instagram.com/minerelementarygarden. All families are welcome to stop by the Peace Garden anytime they're at Miner when the building and playground is open. On Saturday, December 19, Miner Mutual Aid held its final Community Table of 2020.

Starting in June, these monthly events have provided critical support to our community. This assistance will not end with 2020 and we look forward to continuing to build a thriving mutual aid network for Miner and the surrounding neighborhood in the new year. As a reminder, if you need support or have support to give, please fill out the Mutual Aid Network intake form. A date for next month’s Community Table will be announced soon. If you are interested in donating, please email MinerMutualAid@gmail.com. In solidarity, The Miner Mutual Aid Team We are so proud of the way our community came together last weekend for our 5th Annual Holiday Greenery Sale. Thanks to your efforts, it was in many ways the most successful we’ve ever had. We had more preorders than ever and were entirely sold out by the first hour of the in-person sale! Thanks to that incredible demand, and to generous support from our local business partners (more on them below) we managed to raise more than $11,000! Every dime of that money will go toward ongoing support of our teachers and students.
More importantly, thanks to the incredible efforts of our volunteers, we handled that huge increase in demand in a safe environment in compliance with guidelines on in-person gatherings. Customers waited patiently in line and volunteers remained cheerful through rain and wind to make sure everyone got their greenery in an orderly manner. Thanks to the generosity of people who donated trees, we also provided 12 trees to families struggling economically in this incredibly difficult year. A HUGE thank you to all of you who donated time or ordered your greenery from our sale this year. Your dedication is what makes this work possible. And finally, a big thank you to the local businesses who agreed to support our school community by sponsoring the sale:
We are thrilled that this sale has become such an important part of the holiday traditions of our community and look forward to building on this success next year to make that the best sale ever! In the meantime, a happy holiday season and New Year to all of you. Miner's Green Team is partnering with Arcadia's Mobile Market to bring local produce to the community!
